The Student Union of Turku University of Applied Sciences – TUO is there to take your side and guide you throw your studies offering counseling and information. TUO is the student’s own legally acknowledged service organisation that promotes student interests regarding for example academic and student affairs and offering different kinds of consultation services. The role of TUO is to represent its members, to advance the position of students in society and provide them with services ranging from support contact persons, consultations with lawyers to parties and sports opportunities.
There are many services at the disposal of TUO members. Due to your membership you can get counselling at TUO in questions and problems concerning studies and student life. The TUO secretariat and Executive Board are there to help you in any way. You can also participate yourself in conversations about the environment, equality or even academic affairs by taking part in our different kinds of Work Groups. The membership is voluntary for all the students of TUAS and also international degree students and exchange students get the full membership benefits by joining in.
The Student Union – TUO promotes and protects the student interests as whole at the University of Applied Sciences of Turku. The TUO sector on trusteeship promotes the study opportunities of students at the University of Applied Sciences of Turku. The work is done together with the subject associations and the student representatives in school’s administration. The Student Union works in cooperation with the student members of administration and the subject associations. The first and foremost objective is the development of the quality of studies, the student life in whole and counselling. TUO also supports student representatives and actors responsible for study and social affairs in the subject associations.
TUO represents students legally i.a. in the following internal university facilities:

- The board of student benefits
- The curriculum planning team
- The degree board
- The media network
The Executive Board member for Educational affairs and the representative of social politics are responsible for protecting the interests of academic and social affairs. Trusteeship workgroup, which is open to everyone, handles study and trusteeship affairs and takes part in the protection of student interests that must be done in the University of Applied Sciences of Turku. The Educational and Social Affairs Secretary is always at your service as a member of the staff. An important part of the secretary’s duties is student counselling in matters in specific fields, for example helping in matters concerning problems in livelihood, studies and students’ legal rights.
